Coast Sweeping Service was launched in 1969 and formally founded in 1970 by Don and Milynn Schaefer as one of the first sweeping services in the Portland metro area. In 1988, Ken VanDomelen was hired to promote pavement preservation through seal-coating services. Asphalt paving, cracksealing and striping were natural additions to the comprehensive line of services. In 2014, Ken became the sole owner of Coast. With an original mission of being a sweeping service, Ken’s eye toward the future prompted expansion into stormwater services, bio-based preservation products, and excavation.

Now with Coast Pavement Services, Pacific Earth Construction LLC, RePLAY West, and Optiseal of Oregon as part of the Coast family, we are passionately connected to providing the best products and services possible to care for your pavement and the greater environment. We proudly represent this mission by being the first pavement company on the planet to join forces with the Well Done Foundation (WDF), dedicating 1% of each bio-based product sale to the WDF’s initiative to plug orphaned oil and gas wells, thereby curtailing thousands of metric tons of methane emissions. We believe it’s our responsibility to pave it forward for future generations.
